A number of GOP-run states have proposed, and some have even passed, bills that require poor people to be drug tested before they can receive benefits – even food stamps! Below are links to two videos from a segment on the Rachel Maddow Show last night about these new policies…

This one is highlighting the bills and explaining them – http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/vp/44953919#44953919

Here is the follow-up interview with Ohio State Representative Robert Hagan, who is proposing his own bill that anyone, including bankers and the Supreme Court, who is receiving taxpayer money should also be forced to submit to drug testing! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/vp/44953949#44953949

We applaud Rep. Hagan for this bill that is making a great point. We need more like him fighting for instead of against the poor and unemployed. These are families who have been victimized by an unfair system and now they are being further victimized and humiliated by that same system. We will continue to call out anyone who pushes prejudice and insults on the poor, instead of asking “how can we help the families and millions of children in poverty?” These are the ones God has told us as Christians to protect and to care for.

James 2:5-7 – Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?  But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?  Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to whom you belong?
