Census: Nearly one in six in poverty in the U.S.; children hit hard

Out of all the incredible stats in this article, one is particularly staggering – 40% of black children are living below the poverty level in America and 1 in 3 of Hispanic children. These numbers are unacceptable in America – and it is intolerable that the GOP would block the efforts being made now by President Obama to reverse some of this poverty. The President has been out talking every day to the American people – we urge him to not give up and keep fighting for this every day.

This scripture below seems fitting because God HAS blessed us with a rich, fruitful nation with a wealth of resources…the number of Americans in suffering right now speaks not to just economic issues, but to the deterioration of values and morals in our country.

Deut 15: 4-5: However, there need be no poor people among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you, if only you fully obey the LORD your God and are careful to follow all these commands I am giving you today.

From the Washington Post:

The report portrays a nation where many people are slipping backward in the wake of a downturn that left 14 million people out of work and pushed unemployment rates to levels not seen in decades.
